An Arizona summer storm
The secret that I have found to getting good lightning photos is to get right in the path of a very strong concentrated storm (one that has a lightning strike at least every 30 seconds in a relatively small area), have the camera on a tripod, set it to a 15 to 30 second exposure. The hard part is to learn when to stop, for I have put myself in dangerous situations trying to get that "one final great shot". I love doing lightning photography though I don't know that I would really recommend it to anyone.

If I would only have storms cooperate with me, then I could have some shots too XD I agree about the danger part of it, one day I would like to purchase one of those lightning detectors you can place on your camera. They are around 300 dollars I think, don't know how well they would work.
